My GGrandmother was born in 1852 according to family records which are very sketchy. She would have to be Dorothy's daughter or Charlotte's daughter from an earlier marriage.I understand it was common to just change your surname to match your mother's new spouse in those days. When Charlotte died, Emily and Richard purchased the Bickerton property and spent considerable time and money to fix and rent it out.All this is in the diaries. He (Richard) often lent Charlotte money when she returned from Kansas. He writes of a marriage between Alma Bickerton and Mary Brown on 11/10/1889.The above mentioned property was purchased in Orphan's court between May and June of 1897.On May 23, 1897Aunt Eva Beadle, later mentioned as a sister to Amanda Graham (wife of James Graham) and Emily, Lizzie McRoberts and May (Richard and Emily's daughter and my Grampa Oliver Owens' sister)and baby came from Carnegie on the 10:00 train to put flowers on the grave of Mother Bickerton. This could be Charlotte or Eliza whose death Richard records as 5/1/1897.He isn't clear which of the two women it is.He went to settle the estate of Charlotte Bickerton in orphan's court on 10/1/1897.Emily's got to fit in there somewhere.Hope you find these entries interesting and helpful.Sherry
