Thanks for that info. I've just discovered what I think is the answer to this problem. There were quite a few people called Thomas Bickerton in those days, and I'd previously been concentrating on the one baptized in Longhoughton on 19/04/1762, the son of Ann Taylor and Francis Bickerton (baptized in Longhoughton on 25/02/1734), who in turn was the son of another Thomas Bickerton (baptized in Embleton on 18/10/1696). However, one of Francis's brothers was yet another Thomas Bickerton (baptized in Embleton on 27/04/1735). He married Ann Wilson of Ilderton, as you pointed out earlier, and they had at least two children - Ann Bickerton (bc 1760), who married Joseph Sample and had many descendants, and the Thomas Bickerton we're interested in, who was baptized in Eglingham on 07/04/1763. Myself, I'm descended from Francis's eldest brother, Robert Bickerton (baptized in Longhoughton on 11/12/1727). I hope I've managed to tie together all the loose ends of this part of the Bickerton family history. If anyone knows any better, or has or wants information about other branches of the family, I'll be very interested to read your posts. Notify Administrator about this message?
