Robert Douglas Bickerton - Glasgow to Ca

I am looking for any other decendents of Robert Douglas Bickerton who left Glasgow for the West Indies in about 1870. All I really know about him is that his fathers name was Andrew and he was born in Glasgow as well. I believe Bickerton is an English name, so I am also wondering where it originates in England. From my research thus far, I think it is from Cheshire. Any help will be very much so appreciated.
