Abstract: In front of grandstand crowd of thousands, R. M. Howard and Richard Howard, brothers, of Columbus and James Bickerstaff, brother-in-law, of Seala, AL shot and killed Col. P. C. Dawson of Glennville, AL. Two years ago last April, Col. Dawson married Ruth Howard, sister of Robert and Richard but for some time past they had not lived together. James Bickerstaff also married a sister of the Howards. Trio heard that Dawson would be at the horse races and planned the attack. All three began shooting Dawson in front of crowd as he dismounted his sulky. All three arrested. Howards say was a case of a private nature and involved family affairs. All parties to the trouble stand high [in the community].
