Hi larry,
There is a connection. I am via Aaron Bick of Pendock (1783) & Ann Hartland(married 1808)- Charles (1811) & Rebecca Lippett married 24 Dec 1831)- James (1839-1928) & Juliana Dyer (arrived New Zealand 1873)- James Arthur (1863- 1927) & Margaret Harkness (1860-1950) - Walter (1883-1973) & Priscilla Prowd (1885-1956) - Harry Miller (1916-1994) & Anne Hoskin (1916-1986). I have a copy of a letter 26 Jan 1917 from James Bick to his niece, a Mrs Pates of Twyning Green,in which Smart is mentioned. Her daughters Ida and Daisy Pates returned these letters to my great aunt in feb 1987. At that time Ida was 80 and Daisy 90.They have since died.
Aaron Bick had the following siblings: Benjamin (1782), Hannah (1782), Moses (1786), Zackaria (1789), Amelia (1791), Maria (1793), Lydia (1795).
A second connection posibility is via Charles Bick's wife Rebecca Lippett. After his death she went on to marry a Walter Bick (no near relative of my line), and to have other children to him.
Its a shame that we did not connect a few years ago, as a decendant of Charles Bick's sister, Eliza Bick (1819), named Charles Sage of New Zealand had researched the Bick's for some 40 years and this info is from what he gave me. He passed away about 5 years ago, but his son and daughters still live in Aukland New Zealand, and we keep in touch at christmas. Send me a fax number and I'll fax you these 9 letter copies. You can email me or fax me on australia +61 7 32874398.
