Dear Mandy, I'm no help as I don't know much either, but I'm descended from a Bice family from St Blaizey in Cornwall. They were a tin mining family and my ancestor left in the mid nineteenth century to come to NZ to be a gold miner. I believe it is a Huguenot name, but when travelling through Italy, it was also up in large letters on a sign board, and means Beatrice in Italian. I would love to place it more exactly.
