RIVERTON - Earl E. "Scratch" Bice, 74, of Riverton died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at St. John's Hospice.
He was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Springfield, the son of Warren P. and Sarah J. Smith Bice Sr. A daughter, Jami Bice, preceded him in death.
Mr. Bice was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an assistant county auditor for Sangamon County. He was a member of Riverton United Methodist Church, Riverton Athletic Club, Eagles Aerie 4321, Sparrows Club, American Legion and Dawson VFW Post 1032. He was a former village board member of Riverton.
Survivors: two daughters, Janet Lee (husband, David) Crain of Evanston and Julie Louise Bice of Riverton; son, John Bice of Loami; four grandchildren; brother, James L. Bice of New York; several nieces and nephews; and companion, Annie Kresse of Riverton.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Staab Funeral Home, Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery.
