Hi, my name is Barbara Garrett. I work at the Tennessee State Library and Archives. A friend and I are doing research on family and I am trying to find the Pedigree and other family information on great grandparents Charles W. Mason and his wife Anna Murray Mason. Anna was born May 16, 1866 in Tennessee and I believe it was in the Sequatchie Valley in either Marion County TN or Sequacthie County TN. She died in Nashville while visiting her daughter but was returned to Chattanooga for burial. She was married to Charles W. Mason and her parents were William R. Murray who was born in NC and Susan BIBLE who was born in TN. It is my understanding that Charles W. Mason was also born in the Sequatchie Valley area as stated above and during his life resided and was a businessman/farmer in both Chattanooga/Hamilton County TN and in Smithville TN or DeKalb County TN and that the Mason children were born in South Pittsburgh TN which is in Marion County. Their children include: Sadelia, Joseph, Dona, Elise and Charles. Family lore is that Charles W. had partial Cherokee lineage and family connection with people in Alabama.
