The website called "Genealogie des Bibeau" is actually wrongly titled. If you will notice, the name on the flag is spelled "Bibaud". I am a descendant of that Francois Bibaud. The interesting thing here is that when he died, they spelt his name "Bibo". So you see, there is many spelling to the name, but all the Bibaud abd Bibeau are most likely descended from them.

Francois Bibaud was born in France, the son of Jacques Bibaud and Jeanne Savignaux (Savineau). He arrived in Quebec in 1660 from Notre-Dame-de-Cognes (France in the Larochelle area. Upon arriving in Canada, he settled in Trois-Rivieres (Three Rivers, Quebec). He was what we call here in Canada, a "coureur des bois" (literally, someone running in the woods) as he was, from 1661 to 1671,trading in furs. Following this, he spent quite a bit of time doing work for the French Regime (Government), traveling all the way up Wisconsin in a canoe!!! He was there when the, on 14 June 1671, the King of France took possession of the "countries to the West" (i.e. western Canada). A document in the Quebec National Archives bears his signature (he actually wrote "farnois Bibaud".

In order to trace your grandmother in my family tree, I would need to know where she was born in Quebec: was it the Province of Quebec or was it Quebec City?
