My uncle was also able to trace my family tree tp Francois Bibeau who came over from France in 1642. For your information I am a 9th generation Bebeau or Bibeau from Francois. If you'll note the spelling of my family name it is different from the traditional spelling the first I is a has changed to a E and in my perticular family case the second B is capitalized. The theory on the first change as far as we can determine is that my great-great granfather was illiterate and so when he moved from Quebec to Wisconsin the handwritten I has not dotted and so became an E. On the changing of the second B to being capitalized s than my great-aunt was a school teacher and thought the second B should be capitalized much as the K is capitalized in MacKenzie. My personal history my Grandfather was Louis Francis BeBeau and he had two wives over the course of his life, both being sisters. He was born in Wisconsin in 1905 and passed away in 1987. His father was William Bebeau he was born in 1873 and died in 1971. His father was Louis Aime Bibeau who died in 1916. His son William was born out of wedlock but raised by his father, it is interesting to note that Louis and his real wife could not have children. Louis's fahter was Jacques Bibeau. I have additional information in a book my uncle complied but it is at home with my father. Does anyone know where their family branch diverts from mine or anyone elses?
