Carol,
I am a "Biby" still trying to find my American Ancestor who came from the British Isles. You mention that John Bibby's arrival date to America was 1638.Could you tell me the source for his arrival?I have the book by Nugent, "Abstracts of VA Land Patents and Grants 1623-66" if it was from there.I would like to review the patent and make sure I am or not connected to Bibby lines.
I believe my Biby line is not connected to the William Bibby line that came over on the Swan because my brother's YDNA (Biby) and a male Bybee DNA match exactly at 67 markers and our Haplogroup I1d (now I (L22) is Viking/Norse.I found a male Bibby donor who has documentation of his line to William Bibby and his Haplogroup is R1b1a2. Although other Biby/Bybee's have believed we are connected to the Bibby families, I think we are not.I think it possible that the Biby/Bybee/Bibee families descended from an Indentured Servant named Ann Byby who came to America prior to 1700 via Ephraim Garthright Patent, Henrico Co., VA 7 Nov. 1700; and is named in and could be the same Ann Byby who had a child named Thomas Byby in 1689 in Charles Parish, York Co., VA.("Byby, Thomas, son of Ann Byby [No father named], b. Nov. 17, 1689."This Thomas is probably the same Thomas that left a will in 1729/30 in Goochland Co., VA.
Any help would be appreciated.Joyce Biby
