My ggg-grandfather was James Bibby of Wigan (b 1809, Wigan) a butcher in Wigan in 1861. I know nothing of his parents, brothers and sisters. Can anyone please help?
James married a Martha Ellen xxx (b 1833, Wigan) and they had daughters Sarah Alice (b 1858, Wigan), an assistant school mistress at a ladies school, and Clara Ann (b 1859, Wigan).
Sarah Alice married John Plant, a preacher, at Toxteth Park in 1887. She was from a family of some means and was highly educated, which was fairly unusual for girls in the 1880s. Quite a musician, a very capable painter in oils. In 1901, a Sarah A Bibby is recorded as 46 yrs old living in Wigan.
