Dear Tuttle:
With the help of many others, I have been working on your Bibbee/Bibby family for many years. John Bibby was born about 1680, the son of Edmund Bibby II and Esther Floyd. Edmund !! was son of Edmund I and Frances Hunt. Edmund I was son of William Bibby and Mary ___. They immigrated to the Eastern Shore of Virginia from Lancashire, England in 1620.
John inherited the family plantation in Northampton Co. in 1705. He made his will there in 1720, leaving everything to an Elizabeth Benthall and "her heirs at common law. We have never been able to find a marriage for John and have assumed that Elizabeth
was perhaps his common-law wife.
It appears from your posting that she may have been his daughter. I would very much like to see evidence for this. I have many other documents including John's will but never knew about any of his children before.
