I am seeking information on grandfather, CEDRIC EARL THOMAS, born 4 July 1895.
Story so far:
Alice and Lewis (or Louis) D. Thomas were married in 1895. they adopted two children, Cecile and Cedric, from House of the Angel Guardian in (Jamaica Plain) Boston. The four Thomas's are listed together in 1900 Census, living in Chelsea.
Apparently Alice died not long after adoption, Lewis (or someone) returned the children to House of the Angel Guardian. Cedric was moved to the House of the Angel Guardian in WEST NEWBURY, Mass. and Cecile remained in the Boston House of the Angel Guardian. Cecile may have been born in New Brunswick, Canada. I do not know if they were actual brother and sister before the Thomas's adopted them.
Lewis remarried in 1904. The 1910 Census lists Cedric as a boarder, age 13, with a couple in West Newbury, Mass. Cedric met my grandmother in Beverly, Mass.. (Probably at United Shoe Machinery Corp.) They married in 1916, had one child, (my dad, b. 1917). My Grandmother divorced Cedric in mid 1920s... Possible that Cedric died, late nineteen-twenties or -thirties.
Would like very much to learn the circumstances of Cedric's birth, his birth family, birth name and adopted family. I'd be grateful for clues or advice that anyone may have to offer.
