I am trying to reconcile the detail of David Beyer shown below with that of the Biographical and Portrait Cyclopedia of Blair Co. PA by Samuel T. Wiley.

Here is the section from genealogy.com that I am needing a reconciliation:

"13. v. DAVID BEYER, b. September 07, 1763, Pennsylvania; d. December 01, 1841, Tipton Pennsylvania.

Notes for DAVID BEYER:
[1397110.FTW]

He was a Blacksmith
While still a young man, he became involved financially a nd borrowed $500
from his brother Jacob, and $200 from his brother Abraham, t hen suddenly
one
night he disappeard and the family was never able to learn of his
whereabouts
His Mother was said to lament the fate of her son David o n stormy and
snowy nights."

The Cyclopedia of Blair Co., PA states the following:

"WILLIAM M. BEYER,
His paternal great-grandparents came from Germany and settled near Frederick Town, Maryland, where their son, Rev.
David Beyer (grandfather) was born September 7, 1763. Rev. David Beyer was left at an early age, by the death of his parents, to do for himself. He learned the trade of miller, and so well understood milling that his flour, when sold in Baltimore, always brought the highest price. He located in Tyrone township about 1797, and built a brick house and saw and gristmill. In 1833 he sold this property and removed to Antis township, where he purchased land and erected the old Beyer flouring mill. He united with the
Methodist Episcopal church in 1809, was afterward licensed as a minister, and preached for many years without pay or recompense. He died December 1, 1841, and left nearly one hundred descendants. He married Sarah Crumm, of Maryland, and reared a family of thirteen children, of whom Abraham, David, Aaron, and John remained in this State, while three daughters married and settled near Akron, Ohio, and the remainder of the sons and daughters settled in other States."

One article states that David Beyer (both born on Sep-7, 1763) was a blacksmith, the other a Reverend. I suppose that one could be both. Does anyone have any information about this difference? I am trying to tie my G.G.G. Grandmother, Lavina Catherine Beyer to her grandfather, David Beyer. If she is, without question, a descendant of the David Beyer that married Sarah Crum I will have a missing link solved in our connection to the Roosevelt family.

Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Allen Sackett
