From "Palmer Journal" [Palmer, Merrick Co., NE], 11 Jun 1942:

CHARLES BEYER PASSED AWAY EARLY SATURDAY MORN

Carl J. F. Beyer passed away at his home in Palmer at an early hour last Saturday morning at the advanced age of 84 years, 8 months and 3 days.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer conducted by his pastor, Rev. B. Holm, and burial was made in the Palmer cemetery. Pall bearers were: Walter Ruff, Albert Ruff, Fred Ruff, Henry Ruff, Henry Langenhader, all of Grand Island, and J. H. McGonagle of Palmer.

Carl John Friedrich Beyer was born April 3, 1858 at Bloomington, Ill., and departed this life at his home in Palmer, June 6, 1942.

At the age of ten he came with his parents to Nebraska who took up a homestead near Grand Island. He continued to make this place his home at the demise of his parents until the year 1915 when he retired from active farm work and located in Palmer. Here he spent the reclining years of his life, being always active up to the last.

In the year 1889, August 11, he was united in marriage to Bertha Zillmann. This union was blessed with 11 children, four of whom preceded him in death. One child died in early infancy. William was lost in France during the first World War. Walter died some years ago in Utah and a daughter Emma was removed from the family circle in 1930. His wife died in 1921.

He leaves to mourn his departure, seven children: John of Pasadena, California; Bertha of Palmer; Charles and Mrs. Rose Foster of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Esther Peterson of Monrovia, Calif.; Mrs. Mary Page of Grand Island and Mrs. Howard [Clara] Winkler, at present in Palmer; also four grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends.
___________

Note: Charles Johann Frederick Beyer [aka Carl, Karl] was the son of John Christian and Maria (Rossow?) Beyer. He had only one sibling, a sister, Wilhelmina Elizabeth. In 1870, Wilhelmina married John A. Ruff in Grand Island, Hall Co., NE.
