Dear Amanda, Thank you very much for answering our enquiry about the Australian branch of the DE BEIJER family, but at the same time please accept my apologies for taking so long to reply. My name is Patricia Mary Camu (nee Mulligan) and your Great-Great Grandfather and my Great Grandfather, Peter Paul De Beijer, were brothers. Mary-Ann, who placed the enquiry on the internet is my daughter. The generation of thes above De Beijers consisted of 3 girls and 3 boys. All of the males left Germany where they were apparently mineworkers. Two went to South Africa, namely Wilhelm and his wife Johanna with 5 children and Peter Paul with 3 children. The second eldest was my grandmother. Heinrich with his wife Johanna Fernandine (nee Fischer) went to Australia accompanied by their 3 children. This are definately your great, great grandparents as, a few years ago, I made contact with an Ulrich Siepmann in Germany who was able to give me more information on the family. The birthplace of the brother of my grandmother, on his Death Certificat, is Alsace-Lorraine, France and I asked Ulrich how this was possible and he informed me that at that time that part of Germany had been in the hands of the French which accounts for your gr.gr.grandfather being called Henri Jean as the French naturally registered the French version of the German names. Anyway, let me stop now and ask you whether you could send me your address or/and telephone number so that I can write a proper letter and include some scanned photos of the family. It would be great if you could also give me more particulars and scan the photos you have. My address is: Mrs. P.M Camu-Mulligan Ibisdreef 452 3564 RS Utrecht The Netherlands Many greetings, Patricia Notify Administrator about this message?
