Hello,
My name is Amanda Jane de Beyer and I am directly decended from the first de Beyers to imigrate to Australia. I have a photograph of my Great-Great Grandparents, but on the back it say's Henri Jean de Beyer and Fernandina de Beyer (nee Fischer). They first landed in Qld in 1877 where they went to a town called Roma. Henri was told he could grow grapes there. After no luck he packed his family into an Oxcart and travelled to the Hunter Valley. There He built a winery and a house. There is a street in the Hunter Valley named after the family and the vinyard is still there but privately owned. The last son to make wine there was Billy de Beyer. I also have a copy of Australian ballads written by Billy.
