I didn't get the opportunity to photograph every single tombstone, but I have the ones in good condition. A few are difficult to read or heavily damaged.

If you have additional information regarding any of these people, I would appreciate it if you contact me. I'm not releated to any of them, but would like knowing a little more. This is a very old cemetery.

A Baptist church was built here in 1798, which was one of the oldest in the county. It was subsequently abandonded. The first burial was in 1797. Many years ago the cemetery had a stone fence surronding it, with a gated entrance. Many of the stones have been carried off.

Recently, the Cumberland Trail Genealogical Society, with the assistance of Chuck Bell and Everest Borkoski, removed large trees which had fallen in the cemetery. A large path was cut through the underbush to provide access to the burial grounds. Most of the thick undergrouth of weeds has been cut back. The Society is asking assistance in the form of money or labor, to restore the cemetery.

Directions: The cemetery is on the west side of St. Clairsville, OH, in Belmont County, Richland Township. From I-70 take exit number 215, onto Rt. 40. Travel west a very short distance and turn south onto Reservoir Rd. (Twp. Rd. 278). The cemetery is behind the Hidden Valley Outdoors store. It's less than 1 mile from I-70.

I hope you find the information helpful.

Regards,
Terry T. Magyar s/o June Giffin
