BEWLEY / PECK / LEWIS
Levinia Adeline BEWLEY ("Adeline") was b. vic. Mossy Creek (now Jefferson City), Jefferson Co, TN of Elliot PECK and his wife, Nancy Campbell PECK. She m. Wm. (or more likely Wells C.) BEWLEY in 1834. The family was on the 1850 census Gordon Co, GA.
Adeline was HoH in 1860 in Searcy, Gray twp, White Co., AR. She disappears until 1885 when she buys land in Garland Co.
A family legend is that her husband was killed by their son-in-law, -?- Lewis in a dispute over money; said Lewis was subsequently hung. Since Lewis had a child in 1857 and his wife was a widow in her mother's 1860 household, the death occurred 1857-1860. Place and date unknown.
Legend holds that in was in AR. No record found in AR of either death.

Query: Does anyone have specific knowledge about the alleged murder & execution or suggestions as to AR sources where either event would have been recorded in the time frame? Will exchange other family data on BEWLEY & PECK origins in TN, VA, and Ger.
