1763/00/00Amelia Co,, VAJohn Hastings will.NOTE-Several highly regarded VA historians tell me that OfSIGNIFICANT VALUE, is the placement of the Latin word IMPRIMIS (meaning of the first part and also occasionally used to denote first born. The language in this will is indicative of the writing of one of the Cousins (I think it was Peter) who was a well-known lawyer in Southside VA.)John’s will uses the wordIMPRIMIS two times i.e.,(1) "I give & dispose of in manner following IMPRIMIS I Give and Devise to my Loving Wife....(2) then divided between my Son John & my son Zachariah and my Son Abner & my Daughter Usley & my Daughter Edea & my Daughter Tamer & my Daughter Amey IMPRIMIS I give & devise to my Daughter Agnis Brintle and my Daughter Mary Totty.Ed Note:if one takes into account the use of the word Imprimis then its likely that other researchers theories about order of birth f children is incorrect. To further support that John did not name his children by order of birth is the ARW pension of Zachariah Hastings in which Zachariah states he was born in 1751.

1771/09/17Amelia Co., VA Wm Beville’s wrote his will in Rawleigh Parish. Only nieces and a nephew were legatees. Incl were Patty and Betsey Hastings and Jhn Archer.Patty & Betsey were probably dau. of Wm.'s sister Matha and her husband Jhn Hastings. Jhn Archer was the son of Wm.'s sister Mary Beville Archer married to Geo. Archer. Executors were Jhn Gorham, Robt Beville, Zachariah Hastings and Jhn Hastings.Notes from "700 Years of the Beville Family" compiled by A S Lichliter, 1976, and "Bevill-Burton Famiy History" by Mildred E. Solley Morris. Lichliter says that "Jhn Beville married Martha Colson and had among other children (1) Mary Beville who married Geo Archer and(2) dau Martha Beville who married Jhn Hastings. Geo and Mary had son Jhn Archer.Martha and Jhn Hastings had children Patty Hastings and Betsey Hastings. Martha Beville, the last child of Jhn Beville and Martha Colson, was named as a legatee in her father's will.
