For those of us still searching for the proof that John Beverly of NC descends from Major Robert Beverley of VA, you may be interested in a new book - Jamestown People to 1800. Landowners, Public Officials, Minorities, and Native Leaders - (Genealogical Publishing Co,2012) by Martha W. McCartney. Just received yesterdy, the index quickly brought u Beverley (husband's family): Pg. 318: Micajah Perry: In July 1690 the London mercantile firm of Micajah Perry and Compnay (also trading as Perry, Lane and Company) brough suit in Middlesex County's monthly court, in an attempt to eceived from Robert,JOHN, and Henry (Harry) Beverley the cost of lodging. The men probably were housed in the Perry firms brick now house on urban Jamestown's waterfront. ......
Earlier in the book,in alpha B order, are paragraphs RE Robert Beverley I,(Major), Robert Beverly II, (historian), Henry (Hary) Beverley, and Peter Beverley. These section also gives details on family members, etc. In the section on Peter Beverley, the same notation about the suit of Micajah Perry - but without ist JOHN; instead the listing gives Peter, Robert II, and Henry. References are given but thus far have not found one for this suit against the Beverley brothers.
