Beverly, I feel sure that the Capt. John Beverly (Battle of King's Mtn.)was the brother of the Jesse Beverly in the stories we hear about a John and Jesse Beverly who get into a little trouble. John was bound out to Harman Husband (a Regulator) in 1765. Jesse was bound out to one of Harman's compatriots (sp?), so it makes sense that they would still be together. Would it be the same John that was married to Fanny Morris. They have all thought to be the same and to be the brothers to Elijah,Hannah, Isaac....Some think that this John might not be a Jr. born to another John but might actually be a son to the Robert Beverly who was born to John and Margaret ( so he would be John Jr's brother, Robert.) This is all soconfusing. If it is true, how would a descendant of Maj. Robert Beverly come to live among a bunch of Quakers on a tract of land in Orange County, NC? How could his children just be bound out to people outside the family? Perhaps this is just the way it was then.
