RB: I posted the "not Mary Keeble" when I first started doing genealogy. I don't have the info. with me, I have it stored at the farm. I hope I am right, but Mary Keeble may have been her 1st marriage name. I think the correct name is Mary Carter Keeble Beverley. Keeble was a member of the House of Burgesses near the time Robt. Beverly was. He married Mary after Kebble died. I think Robt and Mary had Peter, Robert, Jr. Mary, John and maybe another. She must have had 4 or 5 with Keeble. Robt. had 4 or 5 with Catherine Armistead ("Hone," her 2nd marriage) and only children at the time. It was Robt's 3rd marriage. I read somewhere recently, Bacon burned down the Christs Church. So that could be the reason she was buried under the church, they put the new one over the top of graves or just hers, I don't know if this is true or not. He did have a lot of pull, and he was kin to Fairfax and a dis- tant to Gov. Berkley. It was a very tight click at that time, ea. men wanted to marry rich, descendants to royalty, etc. If Mary Carter was her name, she was the descendant to the King Carter bunch, that was a rich land owner, one of the richest at that time. Robt. was no different from the rest of the men, I am sure Mary was left well provided in wealth. She was older than Robt. also. Catherine Armistead was the sister of John and a friend to Robt. Robt. and John had land together once. They were in this click with the Byrds, Carters, Shirleys, later the Lees, and many more. Then when Robt. died, Catherine married another rich man, Robinson that was in the Burgesses also. Robt. Jr. married a Byrd. Peter and Robert were asigned to care for John, he picked Robt. when he became of age. Robt. talked him into selling him his inheirentance. John married and and moved to Albermerle with his wifes famil, with her father giving him a few hundred acres. They remained in NC, and had John Jr. and a few others. John Jr. had a dau. named Ann Beverley, she married Thomas Conner, a military man. Both Johns were also. John Jr. was a capitan in the indian wars, burning down indian villages, their crops, etc. One of the men in his company came to Nacogdoches, TX, he was a Wm. Sparks, filed for a pension and by then John and others could not verify he was every in the war for a pension. The Co. refused his pension. That can be found on the internet by putting in something like Wm. Sparks pension in Nacogdoches Co., TX. It tells about their activities. Over the years he lost any proof. (My family married into a Sparks descendant of his I can be reached at beverlyhuckestein@aol.com or the bandbcon@yahoo.com either. It is a very interesting family to search. I did find Robt. St. was related to every Royal all over Europe thru his mother and jumping around in the relations. The most interesting tale is abt. the desc. of Robt. Sr., a great grandparent I think, that stormed the nunnery and kidnapped a love. He was a Knight, with others and took her to the nearest church and married her. (I know my dau. always said to me, I wish a Knight in shiny armor would take me away like the fairy tale.) I found that on search also. Beverly Notify Administrator about this message?
