William Hatton Beverly, b. 1828-1832 in Hertford Co, d. during Civil War, May 22, 1864 at Jericho Mills, VA, son of ____ Beverly (who d. in Hertford Co and bur on farm where he lived)and Phoebe Carney, dau of William Carney of Pitt Co, N C, m. 1854, Mary L Crisp, b. 1830-1833, d. 1883. They are listed on the 1860 Edgecombe Co census. He enlisted in Pitt Co, Aug 17, 1861 with the CSA. William H Beverly made his Will on Aug 5, 1862, leaving to wife, Mary L Beverly during her widowhood and to unnamed children should she marry. It was probated in Edgecombe Co Nov Court, 1865. Mary L Beverly is listed on the 1870 Edgecombe Co census. Mary L Beverly is living with her son, Benjamin Allen Beverly on the 1880 Edgecombe Co census. Edgecombe Co DB 28, p. 358, Feb 10, 1860, William M Crisp (brother of Mary L Crisp Beverly) of Norfolk Co, VA to William H Beverly, 116A for $350, land drawn in Division of Land of father, adj. Phebe Stokes (mother of William Hatton Beverly) who m. 2nd, Riley Stokes. Mary L Beverly made her Will on June 7, 1879, probated 1886 in Edgecombe Co, leaving to son, Benjamin A Beverly and dau, William Ann Beverly, all land where I now live, containing 100A. If my dau, William Ann never marries she is to have a home in the house where I now live. If Benjamin and Willian Ann should both die without heirs this property shall fall to my grandchildren. Dau, Lavinia Johnson, 25A I have already deeded to her. Dau, Rebecca James, bed, as her full share of land has already been deeded her by Benjain A and William Ann Beverly as their interest in the Stokes farm containing 12 1/2A, making 25A in all. Dau, Sarah E Beverly, $125, son Benjamin, Exr.
