Mr. McGILL's book on the BEVERLEY family is an outstanding work, but not without errors. This passage you quote is one example. Anyone interested in this subject should read the fine article contributed by Brent TARTER in the MAGAZINE OF VIRGINIA GENEALOGY, Vol. 31, No. 3, pp. 163-183.
