Some BEVERLY families living in the areas of NC/VA/KY/TN/WV in the last 200 years, *may* belong to the an interesting group of people called MELUNGEONS (muh-LUNGE-uhns - rhymes w/ dungeons.)
Some HEALTH problems *may* be involved with this ancestry. My website noted below has some general information on the MELUNGEONS themselves, and more detailed information on the possible health issues. Please take a look if your BEVERLY family lived or passed through these areas or has an Indian grandparent 'myth' which you have been unable to prove, a ship-wrecked story, an adoption story, mentions of 'Portyghee' ancestry, or is simply one of those 'brick-wall' families. There are physical characteristics noted on my site which may help identify descendants.
