Karen, not sure what it is you are looking to prove. The book "The Kings Mountain Men", page 186 details the event of the lashing by Captain John Beverly under Colonel Cleveland.

The William and Mary Quarterly talks about a John Beverly (1753-1842) born in Beverly VA married in 1783 to a Frances Morris (1766-1839). He came, with his brother Jesse to Anson County, NC. Both were Rev. War soldiers. Guess it is not proof, but the brothers, John and Jesse Beverly in the Rev War is too coincidental to ignore. John and Jesse were sons of John Beverly Sr and his wife Margaret, showing he died in Orange County in 1765.Also found where John and Jesse were indicted in March 1777. Can't put my fnger on the records, but I found them in the Virgina Genealogy Society in Roanoke. I have not researched this further, because I do not feel it was my line, although there is one missing link, John and Frances had 4 sons, John, Jesse, Elisha, and Isaac. John had a son named James Beverly and this could be my missing link to Stephen, born 1781. Don't think I have helped you much!
