There is a lot of info on Beveridge in the coal mining areas
of Fife.

"On Monday the 26 ???when Alexander Jameson and GEORGE BEVERIDGE were descending an ironstone pit...North Steeland,d on a scoffolding, attached by a rope to a crane,
by some accident, got out of gear, and both men were preciptated to the bottom of the pit--a depth of about 13 fathoms. Beveridge was severely bruised, but Jameson escaped unhurt."

Title: The Fife Coal Co. Limited Jubilee Year 1872-1922.

There were many accidents in the coal/iron mines. Many are on-line if you type in Beveridge.
