I John Beveridge Sr, being much afflicted and weak in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory calling to mind the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death do make this my last will and testament, revoking all others. I recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to be interred in a Christian-like manner at the discretion of my exe's hererin after named, first all my just and lawful debts are to be paid. To my children by my first wife (namely) Sarah Smith, Thomas, William and John Beveridge have received of me either my deed of gift or possession all that they shall ever have of my estate, either real or personal. To my son Noble Beveridge also a child by my first wife I give and bequeath one Negro man named Yorick. To Susanah and Andrew children by my last and present wife I have made deeds of gift for the slaves therein named. To my present wife Mary I give and bequeath the following slaves viz: Winny, Pleasant and her child Hanah with their future increase together with the fifty acre lot of land where we now live purchased from John P. Duval, Esq with all my stock of every description household and kitchen furniture, plantation utensils during her natural life or as long as she remains my widow and at the expiration of her life or widowhood, the property to her bequeathed is to be equally divided between my two said children Susanah and Andrew and the survivor and their lawful heirs . It is further my will and desire that during the life or widowhood of my said wife Mary that no sale of any part of the property may take place but that it may be kept together for the convenience of herself and children. I lastly nominate and appoint Thomas Fouch, Esq and Col William E M___ executors to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of Oct 1821. Kelly, Nathan Skinner At a court held for Loudon County 9th Sep 1828 This paper purporting to be the last will and testament of Jno Beveridge dec'd was presented to the court and proved by the oath of Nathan Skinner one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be certified and at another day to wit; at a court held for Loudon County 13th of Oct 1828 Wm E. Myer the executor named in the last will and testament of Jno Beveridge dec'd appeared in court and refused to take upon himself the burden of the execution thereof. On the motion of Mary Beveridge who made with oath and together with Susan Beveridge and Andrew Beveridge her securities entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of two thousand dollars conditioned as the law directs, certificate is granted the said Mary Beveridge for obtaining letter of Admn with the will annexed. On said decedents estate in due form and at another court held for sd county 12th Jane 1835 on the motion of Mary Beveridge widow of John Beveridge dec'd to admit to full probate the will of said testator heretofore partly proved. The subscribing witness Nathan Skinner reappearing and being duly sworn having deposed that the said testator was at the time of sound mind and ____ twenty one years old, that he acknowledged said instrument in the presence of the witness and of the other subscribing witness who is dead, as his last will and testament and that he said witness and said dec'd witness Edward Kelly attested the same in the presence of said testator and at his request and Richard H. Henderson being also duly sworn having deposed that the signature "Edward Kelly" as an attesting witness to said instrument was in the handwriting of said Kelly and that said Kelly was dead. It is ordered that said will being thus fully proved, be recorded. J. Charles Carter died d.s.p. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is the last Will and Testament of Tacy Beveridge of Harrison Township Perry County Ohio made this the 26th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and thirty one: I Tacy Bevridge herewith the uncertainty of life, and the certainty of Death and being in my right mind and said understanding (thanks be to God for the _________ do make this my last Will and testament as following, 1st my soul to God who gave it and my body to the grave. 2nd after all my Debt and funeral Expenses are paid I do will and bequeath that the residue of all my goods and chattel (wearing apparel excepted) be sold and the money divided between my children as follow: To my son John I bequeath one dollar; to my Daughter Sarah, I bequeath one dollar to my Daughter Susan I bequeath one Dollar to my Son William I bequeath one Dollar to my son Samuel I bequeath one Dollar to my son Noble one Dollar, and the balance to be Divided Equally betwixt my four young children (namely) Maryan, Thomas H. Hiziah and Charles C-- and do further Will and bequeath all wearing apparel to my two Daughters (Namely) Maryan and Hiziah. I do further appoint my oldest brother Henry Roberts to be my Executive of these my last Will and Testament, as witness where of I here unto subscribe my hand and seal. Thomas Henry and Frances Ellen BEVERIDGE are the parents of U.S. Senator Albert Jeremiah BEVERIDGE (R) Indiana. One of there sons was: Jacob BEVERIDGE 15 Dec 1839 Winchester Twp., Adams Co., OH - 21 Dec 1923 Beattie, Marshall Co., KS. Jacob married Nancy Angeline McNeil on 26 Feb 1863 in Winchester Twp., Adams Co., OH. Nancy was born 9 Nov 1843 in Winchester Twp., Adams Co., OH and died 29 Sep 1921 in Home City, Marshall Co., KS.
