Ann Beveridge, Henry Co. Virginia, 1700's
I am looking for the parents of ANN BEVERIDGE who married Blackmore Hughes in (Henry County?) Virginia in the 1700's.Blackmore had been married previously to Elizabeth Roberts.
202. Blackmore Hughes, born 1718 in Henry County, VA; died Abt. August 1786 in Henry County, VA. He was the son of 404. John Hughes and 405. Sarah Harrison. He married 203. ANN BEVERIDGE.
203. ANN BEVERIDGE
Notes for Blackmore Hughes:
Blackmore was probably named for Dr. Blackamore, a noted teacher at the College of William and Mary in Virginia. He was a contractor and builder in New Kent and Hanover counties. In 1748 he became a Presbyterian under Rev. Samuel Davies of Hanover County and signed a petition asking that a meeting house be established. His lengthy will dated 2 Aug. 1786 bequeathed slaves to his older children and about 300 acres each to his younger children, all on Smith River.
Children of Blackmore Hughes and Ann Beveridge are:
i.Robert Hughes, married Molly.
ii.Moses Hughes, died October 31, 1833 in Tennessee; married Mary McCoy.
iii.Sarah Hughes, married Lawrence Martin.
iv.Thomas Hughes
Notes for Thomas Hughes:
In 1780 Thomas was a surveyor in Staunton, Virginia, and also a Justice. In 1786 he removed to Georgia, where his brother Blackmore also had removed.
