Beveridge Family Genealogy Forum

James Beveridge, my great grandfather, migrated to Phillipsburg, Pa (near Penn State) in the late 1800s from Dunfermeline Scotland (Fife). He married Mary Canning, another Scot, in the US. They had two children, Robert and James Beveridge, both born in Pennsylania.Robert Beveridge, my grandfather, had two sons, James Robert and Thomas Landreth. My father, James still lives in Pennsylvania. Tom moved to California after serving in WWII and graduating from West Virginia University. He lived in La Mirada, married a woman from Utah and had two children, Craig and Terri Beveridge. My uncle and aunt have both passed away...my cousins still live outside LA. Other names from Scotland in our family tree include Bowman, Gorman, Smith and Wilson. Our family is dominated by coal miners. Phillipsburg attracted a good number of Beveridges....many still live there. My quess is that we are related; however, we have not been able to verify any connections. Coal mining, the timber industry and brick making were major employers. Good luck in your research. Please keep me posted. Thanks, Jim
