Kate, note that you're from London. My cousin is currently working there but has not the time to do family research. He's prepared to finance some research by the appropriate person to trace back our ancestors. My ggrandfather, Edward Bevan, was born in Bath in 1854 before coming to Australia as a "21 year old" saloon class passenger in 1873, marrying in NSW and being a pioneer in North Queensland, having a number of children and returning to NSW, where he died in 1898. His father George Edward Bevan married Emily ? and established the "family Home" "Glannant" near Crickhowell in Southern Wales in the 1830's. He was apparently a big wig and part owner and manager of a mine just outside Crickhowell under the Llangatock escarpment (County Brecon), buried in the graveyard of St Edmunds Church in Crickhowell. Unfortunately the Parish records for St Edmunds have not been microfisched and IGI does not have records, so someone will have to go to the church to personally examine the records. Do you know of anyone who does such research in Wales we could contact? Look forward to your comments. Peter Bevan, Townsville NQ Australia.
