Looking for information about JAMES BEVAN (or Beavan), born around 1799 in Yarpole, Herefordshire. I seem to have hit the proverbial brick wall in my search for his forebears, as there is no record of his baptism in the Yarpole parish register, though in the census of 1851 and 1861 his birthplace is clearly Yarpole. He married young in Cheltenham in 1817, to Miriam Warner. Their daughter Ann, my ancestor, was born in 1819. James Bevan was first of all a grocer on High Street Cheltenham, and later described himself as an accountant. From the certificate of his second marriage I learned that his father's name was JOHN BEVAN (or Beavan), a baker by occupation.
If anyone has information, or can suggest ways I might proceed, I should be really grateful.
