Hello Julia,
I wonder if the following will be of any interest to you. My Aunt, Helene Christine Paine, nee Ford,(my mother's sister) was born in the Forest of Dean c. 1904, in a pub somewhere nr. Bream, her Aunt Gertrude (nee Bevan) and husband, ran this establishment. This Aunt, was the sister of my grandmother. Both these ladies maiden names were Bevan. Their father was William Bevan from Monmouth. William was born c.1830, his
wife was called Mary Ann (surname unknown)
The children of William were:- Edgar Tanner Bevan, b. 1867, Miss Alty Elizabeth Bevan (my grandmother)b. 1871, and Gertrude Bevan b.1877.
All the children were born in Monmouth, where William ran a Jewellery Shop with a man called Bowman.
Hope this is of some help.
Jane,
Scotland.
