This is not a direct answer to your request, however, I was wondering if you had any information on William's siblings or parents.

This is information on my gggrandmother: Mary Allen (or A.) was born in Wales March 10, 1793--her grave stone in Riceville, IA reads "Mary A Bevan" Her daughter Mary is believed to have been born at Merthyr Tydfil Glamorgan 1831. She married Henry Nicholas. Had 3 sons at Merthyr, came to America before 1869 where my grandmother Rachel Sarah Nicholas was born. Does any of this fit with your William?
