The "Thomas" I think you are referencing was the son of Richard Awbrey and Anne Vaughn(#6 Below). Hophin Awbrey would have been Thomas' GG-Grandfather and Thomas would have been Barbara (Awbrey) Bevans' Grandfather.

You mention John Awbrey immigrating to the U.S. Actually, it was John Bevan that immigrated with wife, Barbara (Awbrey) Bevan. See Book Reference #2 at the end of this post.

Is your research on the "Awbrey" side or the "Bevan" side of this branch. I have been looking to find a valid source for the information on the relationship between John Bevan and Samual Bevan. If you have anything on that, I would be most interested in receiving it

Hope that this information helps. This is the only information that I have a real "source" on. Like you, I receive alot of secondary things, but I thought this was a real find. The source reference is at the end, if you want to know where to find the information yourself or if you need to know more on the validity of the information:

Their Daughters:

9. Barbara Awbrey** m. John Bevan

** It is not indicated which wife of William was the mother of either girl. See Book Reference #1 below.

BOOK REFERENCE:

1. “William Awbrey, married as his second wife, Letitia, daughter of William Penn, the founder. A daughter Martha became a member of the Society of Friends and emigrated with John and Barbara (Awbrey) Bevan to Pennsylvania and was married to Rees Thomas at Haverford Meeting, June 18, 1692. The exact relationship between Barbara (Awbrey) Bevan and Martha Awbrey, who accompanied her to Pennsylvania and married Rees Thomas, has not been determined.”

2. "John Bevan, eldest son of Evan ap John, born on the ancestral estate of Treverigg, parish of Llantrisant, county of Glamorganshire, in the year 1646, inherited the estate of Treverigg at the death of his father about 1665, and on coming of age made liberal provision for his brothers and sisters who were unprovided for. He became a member of the Society of Friends and was for many years an esteemed minister of that sect, travelling extensively on that service. He became interested in founding a colony of Welsh Quakers in Pennsylvania, and as an agent for a company of them purchased 2,000 acres of William Penn, a part of which was surveyed in Haverford township, Chester county, and about 300 acres in Merion, Philadelphia county. He also purchased a tract of land for his brother, Charles Bevan, and made several purchases in his own name. On the 10th of the 7th month (September) 1683, a certificate was granted by the Friends Meeting at Treverigg for John Bevan, his wife, Barbara, and their children, to remove to Pennsylvania. They were accompanied by Ralph Lewis and a number of other Welsh Quakers who settled near them."
