My Beutler family came to America from Canton Berne Switzerland in the late 1850's. They came on a ship which embarked from LeHarvre, France. They were "Evangelical Christian" (probably some Lutheran variant) and left Switzerland for more plentiful farmland in eastern Ohio. The oldest boy, Gottfried, fought in the Civil War for an Ohio Regiment, so I suspect the children all picked up English pretty quickly. Bette
