Looking for info on Jesse L. Betz b. 1860, s/o Henry Betz, Jr. and Catherine (I think maiden name Stull). Henry Betz, Jr. b. abt 1835, he was s/o Henry Betz Sr. b. 1799 in Pennsylvania. Have been unable to find Jesse in the 1880 census, but in 1900 he is found in Bartlesville, Washington Co., OK census married to Lucy Lee Wills b. abt 1865 in Scott Co., KY., the d/o John Durrett and Mary Ellen Fish. I have no idea where Jesse was between the census of 1870 and 1900. He died about 1917 but have been unable to find any info on his death other than he was rushed from OK to KS when he became very sick. I don't know where is Kansas he died, but there is no much Kansas BMD info on the net.
Jesse changed his name to Bates sometime between 1870 and 1900 and is listed on the 1900 census and 1910 census as Bates. There are many misspellings of Bates on these and other censuses, i.e. Bater, etc.
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
