Jeannine, see my posting #39 on 22 Jan 2000. Harris is probably a son of Daniel Betty and Susannah Rogers who were married in 1781. It may be just a coincidence, but my ancestor, Samuel Hudson, married a woman whose maiden name (from recent family documents) was Susannah Rogers. I thought for years that Susannah was the daughter of Harris Hooe because of the close connections to the Hooe family. When I learned that Susannah was a Rogers, I thought she was probably the Susannah Rogers who married Daniel Betty in 1781, as Daniel died early in 1800, the same year that my Susannah was married to Samuel Hudson! Susannah's age on the later census records indicates that she was born in 1765 which would have made her 16 at marriage to Daniel Betty. The only problem is that there is still a Sukey (nickname for Susannah) Betty on the 1810 census. This could be a different person, however.
