Bio of JOHN-2 BETTS (d 1730) of CT
John Betts (Thomas-1) was born on 10 May 1655 in Guilford, New Haven County, Connecticut.He was the son of Thomas Betts and his wife Mary ------.
Very little is known about John.He married first ------ ------, whose identity is unproven.They had two children:
i John b. m. Damaris Lockwood
ii Hannah b. m. Nathaniel Bouton
He married second Sarah (Kellogg) Brinsmead, the widow of Samuel Brinsmead.She was born in Norwalk in February 1659/60, and was the daughter of Daniel Kellogg and Bridget Bouton.
Otherwise, the town records are strangely silent on him.
He died shortly before 3 June 1730, when administration of his estate was granted to his son John Jr.His estate was inventoried on 12 June, and presented and accepted in court on 29 June, of that year:

The value of the items in the inventory was £805.11.11.On 23 June, armed with a copy of the inventory, the heirs entered into an agreement on the division of the estate:
" This Instrument of Division & Partition Made this Twenty Third Day of June Annoque Domini 1730 Between John Betts Junr ye only Son of Mr John Betts Senr late of Norwalk (Deceased) in ye County of Fairfield & Colony of Connecticut of ye one part And Nathaniel Bouton of Stamford in ye County Aforsaid and Hannah his Wife the only Daughter of ye sd John Betts Deceased on the other part.
Witnesseth that ye sd John Betts Junr & Hannah Bouton being ye only Children & proper Heirs of all the Estate of ye sd Deceased Both real & personall Excepting ye Dower of Mrs Sarah Betts Widow & relect of ye sd Deceased Mr John Betts in sd Estate an Inventory of ye same being taken & finished Bearing Date ye Twelveth Day of Instant June the sd John Betts Junr& Nathanll Bouton & Hannah his wife willing & Minded to Make A Division & partition of sd Estate between them, That is to Say after all Just Debts Due from sd Estate are Duely paid & satisfied And the sd Mrs Sarah Betts hath her Right of Dower in sd Estate Sett out to her viz one third part of ye Moveable Estate forever & one third part of ye Lands Dureing her Naturall life, It is Covenated Concluded & Agreed by & between ye sd John Betts Junr & Nathanll Bouton & Hannah his Wife in Maner and form following
