My GGG grandmother's name was Arethusa. She was born abt 1825 in Wayne County Missouri. I am hoping to find out a bit more on her parents if I ever can. I am all but convinced she is connected to Overton Bettis somehow. Arethusa's daughter Mellceana Atkinson named one of her sons Overton Bettis Atkinson. From what I understand the Overton Bettis name is generally handed around by family, it's not just a name that anyone would come up with.
Arethusa married a Henry Atkinson born abt 1821 in KY. I don't know when or where they married. I do know that they had the following children:

by the time I get to the 1900 census Mellceana is living with her children only, I can only assume both Henry and Arethusa have passed - if they were still alive they would be somewhere near Mellceana. If anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it!
