Testimony #1 to prove my own SOUTH CAROLINA HERITAGE

I am in my mid-50's and my father Harold FRANCIS Bettis told me my whole life that William Harrison, his grandfather was from Tennessee, and William H's father Alford was from SOUTH Carolina (not NORTH Carolina). He was told this by his own father JAMES who died in 1942 being struck by lightening while irrigating in COLORADO. Adele referrs to my grandfather JIMMIE Bettis who went on to Colorado from Texas. Although my grandfather was born and raised in Arkansas, he worked in Texas with John Conyers and Benjamin Lanson's family before moving to Colorado in 1818. His name is right there in Adele's book along with John C., Lanson and Thomas. Adele's source of information for the descendants of Marshall Alford was Mrs. Mace (M.A.) Bettis, whose husband was a grandson of John Conyers Jr.
I swear on the Bible that I've always known my GGgrandfather William Harrisons father originated in South Carolina. What reason would my father and grandmother have in deceiving us? That's rediculous. So their was no Bible passed down with words written on it that say Marshall Alford Bettis? When Marshall left for Tennessee he probably left on a horse with two saddle bags.....I doubt if he had room for a Bible. The Bible itself wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for ORAL TRADITION. If you are not a History student you may not realize the importance of ORAL TRADITION. We wouldn't have the stories of the native Native Americans if it weren't for oral tradition, or the stories of the slaves have of their families in Africa if it wasn't for oral tradition.
I don't know why or when Marshall left to go to Tennessee but it was before 1816 when everyone else went to Alabama. OR Marshall was sent away to Tennessee with other family members. Maybe he was a trouble maker and his step mother couldn't stand him. Maybe he hated his step mother so he ran away. He didn't stay in touch with his BETTIS relatives in south Carolina after he left. But his grandchildren did! Maybe he had committed a crime so he fled. Maybe he was like the very first Bettis who came to America--he went to Tennessee because he wanted to explore the frontier. If you reject my own family oral history that doesn't make you right. It just means you don't believe me.
