From the research I have done on the Bettis and Pattersons
It appears to me that this William Bettis is the brother to Wyatt Bettis who migrated from Franklin Co. NC to Georgia, Wahington Co and then Wilson, Co. Tn William, John and James were in Shelby, Tenn by 1820 with Drury and Thomas Patterson, Many of The Franklin Co and Granville NC
Pattersons migrated to Wilson Co. Tn. with the Bettises.
William and Wyatt parents were James and Lucy Bettis.
