Hi:
I saw your name on the web as someone else who is researching their Bettinger / Bettingen surname.
I have created a site called “Bettinger / Bettingen Research Site”, and would like to invite you to join the site. There is no charge to you at all.
My reason for creating the site is that we genealogy hobbyists spend hours and hours checking multiple sites all the time, where records of our surnames are scattered. I thought it a good idea to pool all of our information at one site, so that we can hopefully make more links, with a lot less time and effort.
I set up a similar site as a test, for another surname of mine in June 2000, and already have 21 members there, although it’s a very uncommon surname. So far, 3 individuals have made links to their own trees with others in the site, although they’ve each been doing this on the web for some time, without ever finding the connections.
There are a few great benefits to using MyFamily, which are the reasons for my setting the site up there. First, when you are added to the member list, you receive auto emails any time any one of us posts something to the site, with a link to the addition. This saves having to check back in all the time, and dig around for what’s new. Secondly, the site holds photos, family trees, news articles that we post, has a private chat room for family discussions, etc.
I created a number of news articles for the first site I set up, which includes all my family members, regardless of surname. They were all at different levels of genealogy research knowledge. The articles deal with records, web sites for finding info., etc. I have copied these articles to the Bettinger / Bettingen Research Site, anticipating that there will be Bettinger / Bettingen researchers there of varying levels of expertise.
Please email me if you would like to be added to the member list, and I will get you added within 24 hrs. You will then receive an email from the site, with a temp login and password, which you can change at any time. Feel free to add anything Bettinger / Bettingen related that you’d like. This is our site, and for all of us to use. I administrate, as each site needs an administrator, but I hope all those who participate add their photos, family trees, etc. The more information we can put together in one place on the surname, the greater the benefit for all.
