Joshua Betterton-John Chappell--1840 Anderson Co, SC census

Hi!
I am researching the Chappell's of Pendleton District (now Anderson and Pickens Co, SC.) I came across a notation that Joshua Betterton, aged 78, was living with John Chappell in the 1840 Anderson Co, SC census. He was listed as a Revolutionary War pensioner. I have searched the internet among different search engines for a lineage of Joshua Betterton. I have found some, but none of them mention John Chappell, nor any Chappell's, except a couple and they are noting the 1840 census listing.

Do any of you know of any reason Joshua Betterton would have been living in the household of John Chappell? Perhaps they were old war buddies? But, I have not found a John or James Chappell as a war veteran from the Rev. War. Any info or ideas are greatly appreciated.
