If you know when John (Jack( died and where he was buried, you should be able to get a copy of an obituary for him, usually one or two days after the date of death. Contact the local public library of the area, give them his name and date of death, and ask if they can locate an obituary. If they can, see if they can scan and email it to you. It should list both deceased (such as parents) and surviving (such as children) family members.
We're probably related but not within at least 5 generations, maybe more. Once you work back John's ancestry, check out my web site at http://web.meganet.net/bettenco/. It won't be much help now, but hopefully in the future.
