Does anyone know the father and mother of George W. Bethancourt, born in South Carolina in 1848 who married Marianne Schmidt and had 6 children, one of whom was my great grandmother. The family tradition is that they were Catholics, and came from the Canary Islands, but how, and when I do not know.
