My GGGF was Manuel Pereira (b~1840), he was
of St Jorge. He married a Marie Bettencourt
(m~1864) and had by GGF Joao Pereira. Joao
emmigrated to Massachusetts, moved to Bridgewater, and became John Perry.
Anything ring a bell with your Bettencourt
