My Grandmother's maiden name was Bettencourt. Her father's name was Francisco Bettencourt and her mother's name was Francisca Periera Bettencourt. I believe my grandmother was orginally from Velas, Sao Jorge. Grandmother came to the USA, New Bedford, MA. I know she had a sister, Anna, because my Grandfather, William Souza, married Anna but Anna died and he married my Grandmother, Maria Bettencourt Souza.
